ABOUT AHMI

Serving glamor and drama, it’s Ahmi Dolla!!

I am a Boise-based drag thing, producer, host, DJ, tarot reader, and multimedia creative.

My creative world exists somewhere between drag, nightlife, spirituality, performance art, music, visual art, movement, and pop culture.

My relationship with creativity and my body started long before Ahmi Dolla ever stepped onto a stage.

When I was five years old, I was diagnosed with Wilm’s tumor, a form of childhood kidney cancer. I spent a year in the hospital, went through chemotherapy and radiation, and had my entire right kidney and half of my left kidney removed.

So much of my childhood was shaped by hospitals, treatment, and simply learning how to survive.

After high school and several traumas, I had already earned my Associate of Science from Boise State University. Then, at 30, I experienced heart failure, and it became a catalyst for my new life.

I went back to Boise State University and finished my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Professional Studies with an emphasis in Visual Art. I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training, went to therapy, was diagnosed with BPD, began exploring movement through pole dancing, and eventually found my way into burlesque and drag.

What started as exploration became a way of reconnecting with my body.

After spending so much of my life experiencing my body through survival, illness, treatment, and limitations, performance gave me a different relationship with it. I could make my body a place for creativity, expression, pleasure, transformation, humor, and play. I could decide how I wanted to inhabit it.

That became a huge part of what performance means to me.

I don't get onstage simply to perform. I get onstage because I am still here, and I revel in each moment.

WHAT I CREATE

I’m the creative force behind High Tide Drag, where I produce and host drag experiences throughout Boise. I love bringing performers, DJs, artists, and audiences together and creating events that feel bigger than just a show; immersive, irreverent, glamorous, ridiculous, and deeply connected to community.

I’m also the host of The Siren Frequency on Tropico FM, one of Boise’s independent nonprofit community radio stations. The show gives me another way to explore my love of music, culture, nightlife, and alternative voices while creating space for artists, DJs, and ideas that deserve to be heard.

And then there’s Siren Tarot. My readings are another form of connection; an invitation to slow down, look inward, and maybe see yourself or your circumstances from a completely different perspective.

Everything I create is ultimately about connection.

I want people to walk into something I’ve created and feel like they’ve entered a world.

My creative practice has become a way of turning survival into expression.

So, if you made it this far, thank you for hearing my story! I hope to meet you soon, and make something magical together!
